Music Royalty Collection Society Nepal is now going to send the royalty of the creator / creator directly to the bank account. The society is going to make such arrangement to make the organization transparent and responsible.
B Pandey, general secretary of the Music Royalty Collection Society Nepal, said that they are working to send the royalty to the bank account of the concerned Shrestha as much as possible.
“As far as possible, we are working on creating an environment where the data can be transferred directly to the account of the concerned person and we are able to create software that allows us to view the data,” Pandey told ICT News.
He is of the opinion that sending royalties to the bank account of the creator is difficult and not so easy. The Royalty Collection Society believes that this work will be done soon if the creator also shows activism in it. He says that the organization will make arrangements to send royalty to the bank account of the creator for the next 1-2 years.
Society becoming digital
Music Royalty Collection Society Nepal is a non-profit organization established in 2007 according to the copyright law of Nepal. Although founded in 2007, the organization did not have its own website. The website was launched by a new working committee elected only last August.
Secretary General Pandey says that the organization seems to have wasted a good time before. The new working committee has expedited its work.
The new working committee has already signed an agreement with Meta for the royalty of Nepali songs to be played on Facebook and Instagram reels in a period of 6-7 months and is also preparing to do so with digital platforms including YouTube and Tiktak.
He said that the current working committee is working by giving priority to digital technology. Although there are various challenges in advancing digital technology, he seems confident in moving forward by assimilating them.
The organization has developed work information database software. It is working to keep member data. Currently, the organization is in the process of getting the International Standard Work Code.
Similarly, the society is going to get WIPO Connect software from the World Intellectual Property Organization. Pandey says the software is currently being stored on our servers.
“After some time, we will be able to generate the international standard code of Nepali songs and music,” he said. “After 1-2 weeks, we will start generating the code.”
