Global IME Bank has entered into an agreement with Payment Nepal (Gateway Payment Services Pvt. Ltd.) to enable QR facility for customers within Nepal-India.
According to the agreement, using the bank’s mobile banking app Global Smart Plus, customers can purchase goods in India through QR and transact through various Indian payment systems including BharatPay, Paytm, Google Pay.
The agreement was signed by Ratna Raj Bajracharya, Chief Executive Officer of Global IME Bank and Rajesh Prasad Manandhar, Chief Executive Officer of Payment Nepal.
Once the service is operational, cross-border payment between Nepal and India will be possible through this facility. From now on, payment services of Indian banks and financial institutions and other payment providers such as BharatPay, Paytm, GooglePay, etc. can be used for business transactions between Nepali and Indian merchants through QR payment. In addition, the bank’s customers will also be able to make payments to Indian merchants using this facility.
Similarly, customers will be able to transfer funds from Indian banks and financial institutions and other payment service providers to Global IME Bank accounts. It will also promote cross-border remittance business.
